All Africa Nigeria: ‘Ignorance, Cause of Maternal Mortality’
The Permanent Secretary in the Bauchi State Ministry of Health, Dr. Muhammad Ali Hussaini, has identified lack of sufficient knowledge by some Muslim clerics in Northern Nigeria as being responsible for the high level of maternal mortality in the area.

Philippine Information Agency RDC-SDC moves for creation of TWG for indepth study on move to regulate TBAs
According to the DOH the Philippines has committed to achieve the Millennium Development Goal (MDG) of reducing maternal mortality from 209 (1995 NDHS) to 52 per 100,000 live births by 2015.
